The 3rd Sino-France Joint Meeting on BioImaging recently concluded in Huairou Science City. The event was co-hosted by the Academic Subgroup of Biomedical Information of the Biophysical Society of China, the CNRS Bio-Imaging International Research Network, the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Laboratory for Biomedical Imaging, and the CNRS Office in China. The event took place from November 4–6 at the Multimode Trans-Scale Biomedical Imaging Facilities in Huairou Science City.

As a key part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the CNRS Office in China, the event brought together nearly 100 experts, scholars, researchers, and industry representatives from both countries, including 10 French experts and over 20 renowned Chinese scientists led by CAS Member Cheng Heping. The event created a high-level platform for academic exchange and industry-university-research collaboration, injecting new momentum into deeper China-France cooperation in the field of biomedical imaging.
With the theme “Innovation in Biomedical Imaging Technology and Facility Development”, the event featured keynote presentations, technical training sessions, and research facility tours. Participants explored the latest advances in cutting-edge microscopy technologies such as MINFLUX, SIM, and data visualization. In addition to sharing valuable experience in imaging facility development, attendees also visited the Multimode Trans-Scale Biomedical Imaging Facilities, gaining firsthand insight into China’s achievements in building state-of-the-art biomedical imaging infrastructure.

By building a shared platform for collaboration, the event helps to propel the field forward. Attendees agreed that the event not only reinforced scientific exchanges between China and France, but also created a sturdy bridge linking academia and industry. The establishment of this high-level international venue will keep driving bilateral cooperation in biomedical imaging. The meeting concluded in a warm, enthusiastic atmosphere, with the announcement that the 4th Sino-France Joint Meeting on BioImaging will be held in Bordeaux, France in October 2026.
The event’s success has noticeably deepened mutual understanding in biomedical imaging and laid a solid foundation for future joint research and technological innovation. Next, Huairou Science City will continue to leverage its large research infrastructures—such as the Multimode Trans-Scale Biomedical Imaging Facilities—to host international exchange platforms, injecting fresh momentum into global technological advances and applications in biomedical imaging.
