The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality signed the Cooperation Agreement on Jointly Building the Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing Huairou Science and Education Industrial Park.

The Yanqi Lake Campus of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially put into use.
September 2016
The State Council issued the Overall Plan for Strengthening the Construction of the National Science and Technology Innovation Center in Beijing, proposing to “make overall plans for the construction of Zhongguancun Science City, Huairou Science City and Future Science City”.
May 2017
The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly approved the Construction Plan of Beijing Huairou Comprehensive National Science Center.
September 2017
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council approved the Beijing Urban Master Plan (2016-2035), which states that Huairou Science City should be built into a world-class original innovation carrying area that matches national strategic needs.
2019
All 29 scientific facilities and platform during the 13th Five-Year Plan period started construction.
2022
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, all 29 scientific facilities and platforms completed their civil engineering projects; the Earth System Numerical Simulation Facility passed national acceptance and officially opened for operation.
January 2023
The Detailed Regulatory Plan for Huairou Science City (Block Level) (2020-2035) was officially approved.
December 2024
All 29 scientific facilities and platforms during the 13th Five-Year Plan period entered the research stage.
